An Ocean County man pleaded guilty to attempted murder Tuesday for his role in a stabbing from January 2023 took place near the entrance to a bike trail, officials said.
Harry Bray, Jr., 37, of Manchester pleaded guilty to attempted murder before Judge Kenneth T. Palmer in an incident that left a woman with serious injuries from being stabbed, officials said.
A Brick Township police officer discovered the woman near a car with two flat tires at 5:30 p.m. in a parking lot on Cherry Quay Road on Jan. 5, 2023 during a routine patrol, authorities said.
The woman was on the ground next to the vehicle suffering from multiple stab wounds, authorities said.
She was taken to an area hospital where she was treated for her injuries and released, officials said.
An investigation by the Ocean County Prosecutor‘s Office Major Crimes Unit, Brick Township Police Department and Ocean County Sheriff’s Office identified Bray as the primary suspect in the incident, officials said.
Bray was taken into custody later that night in Manchester Township by authorities, officials said. He was transported to the Ocean County Jail where he has been housed since, authorities said.
Officials did not release further details on the investigation.
Bray’s sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 17 and prosecutors have requested an 18-year sentence subject to the terms of the No Early Release act, officials said.
An attorney for Bray could be immediately reached for comment.
